ZAND is back—and they’ve brought puppets, possession, and pig masks with them. The Blackpool-born alt-pop menace has just dropped the gloriously chaotic new video for their latest single ‘TOES!’, and it’s every bit as unhinged, creative, and addictive as fans could hope for.
Coming off the back of their breakout hit ‘Cocktail Molotov’, which soundtracked Arcane and racked up over 24 million streams, ‘TOES!’ is a five-minute industrial-pop fever dream soaked in surrealist humour and low-budget horror charm. Think The Muppets meets Twin Peaks with a side of wig-snatching chaos. And yet, somehow, it all works.
ZAND describes the video as “arguably my best music video yet,” and it’s hard to disagree. Filmed on a shoestring budget with a three-person crew, it still manages to feel like a full-blown short film—complete with murder, mystery, fish and chips, an evil boar alter-ego, and even some bangers and mash. ZAND makes their puppeteering debut in this twisted tale of battling your inner demons, both metaphorical and foam-based. According to them, TOES! explores the dark parts of your psyche—intrusive thoughts, mental illness, addiction—and how to control them without letting them take over. It’s weird, it’s wild, it’s wickedly smart.
But don’t get it twisted—ZAND’s signature wit and sass still runs through every second. TOES! pokes fun at everything and everyone (including ZAND themself) in what they proudly call their “ultimate hater anthem.” It’s packed with chugging guitars, glitchy electronics, and genre-defying flair. If Nine Inch Nails, early Eminem, and the cast of Sesame Street started a band together in a haunted basement, it might sound something like this.
Beyond the madness, TOES! marks a turning point. After years of building an underground cult following with tracks like ‘SEWERSTAR’ and ‘Ugly Pop’, ZAND is shedding their skin and stepping into a new era—one that’s more ambitious, cinematic, and fearless than ever before. A debut album is finally on the horizon, and if TOES! is anything to go by, it’s going to be unlike anything else out there.
