The Amity Affliction are back with their ninth studio album House Of Cards, out now via Pure Noise Records, alongside a new single and video for ‘Kickboxer’.
The Australian heavyweights have been building towards this one for a while, with earlier singles like ‘Bleed’, ‘Heaven Sent’ and the title track setting the tone. House Of Cards also marks a new chapter for the band with Jonny Reeves joining as clean vocalist, adding a fresh dynamic to their sound across the record.
Speaking on the album, Joel Birch shared just how personal this release is, explaining it’s “almost entirely written about my mother” and shaped by his experiences growing up. He also broke down how different tracks tie into that, from grief and loss to his relationship with religion and belief.

The new single ‘Kickboxer’ comes with its own story too. Birch explained the track started from a simple idea sent over text, with the phrase “kiss of death” sparking the concept. He wrote the song on tour, using it to reflect on his upbringing and rejecting the idea of waiting for something to save him.
The band are set to bring House Of Cards on the road later this year, with a full EU and UK run lined up through September and October, including dates in Manchester, London, Nottingham and Bristol.
