Split Chain are back with their latest single “scatterbrain”, alongside the announcement of a deluxe reimagined version of their debut album ‘motionblur’, arriving September 11 via Epitaph Records.
The Bristol band continue building momentum with “scatterbrain”, a track centred around drifting relationships, emotional distance and feelings of abandonment. Speaking on the single, the band explained that the song comes from personal experiences growing up and focuses on the slow breakdown of friendships, relationships and family ties when people begin to pull away without explanation.
The release also marks the next chapter for ‘motionblur’, with the upcoming deluxe edition set to feature reworked versions of tracks from the original album alongside appearances from some of the alternative scene’s rising names. Confirmed features currently include False Reality on “SPIT [DLX]” and Roman Candle on “Headway [DLX]”, with more collaborators still to be revealed.

Speaking about the project, the band said they wanted the deluxe edition to celebrate both the album itself and the community around it, bringing in friends and artists from across the scene to reinterpret the songs in their own way. They also shared how grateful they were to everyone involved in helping bring the project together.
Alongside the new music, Split Chain have also announced a UK headline tour for September with support from False Reality and Roman Candle. The deluxe edition of ‘motionblur’ will also include recent single “sylvia (i won’t belong to you)”, the previously hidden track “untitled”, and the newly released “scatterbrain”.
