Brighton-based gritpop duo Snake Eyes are kicking off 2025 with a bang, returning with their powerful new single ‘Hug Me’, out February 6th via Alcopop! Records (ROW) and Grand Hotel van Cleef (Germany).

The track features guest vocals from Erik Heise of German punk chart-toppers Pabst, bringing an extra edge to Snake Eyes’ signature blend of gritty, guitar-fueled pop. The band self-produced the track, capturing raw energy and emotional depth in equal measure.

A Personal Reflection on Anxiety and Recovery

Frontman Jim Heffy shares that ‘Hug Me’ is one of his most personal songs to date, written during a difficult battle with anxiety in late 2023.

“I was signed off work with an anxiety disorder, and it was one of the darkest periods of my life. The medication made things worse before they got better—I couldn’t even go to the shop, let alone see friends. I lost my job and felt like my mind and body were completely disconnected. This song is about recovery, love, and empathy. My journey is still ongoing, but if you struggle with anxiety or depression, we got you. ‘Hug Me’ is here to give you some positive energy.”

A Playful Nod to a Classic Music Video

The single comes with an official DIY music video, directed and filmed by the band. The video playfully references The Verve’s iconic ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’—but with a twist.

“Instead of walking through the city, ignoring everything, Jim is trying to share the love with strangers—who completely ignore him! There are some fun shot-for-shot recreations in there, see if you can spot them,” says drummer Thomas Coe-Brooker.

Big Things Ahead for 2025

Snake Eyes have an exciting year ahead, with a huge run of UK and European tour dates supporting You Me At Six, Dune Rats, and Kid Kapichi.

Last year, the band continued to build momentum, raising over £400 for Music Declares Emergency and Greenpeace with their charity single ‘Hottest Day on Record’. They also toured with October Drift, Mouth Culture, and Kettcar, and made festival appearances at 2000trees, Truck Festival, Supersonic, Left of the Dial, and more.

With more new music and live shows on the horizon, 2025 is shaping up to be a huge year for Snake Eyes.
