Of Virtue came in swinging with Omen. Released via Arising Empire, the album saw the Michigan band deliver a record packed with massive hooks, heavy guitars, and the kind of emotion that gives the whole thing real weight. Alongside the full release, they also dropped the title track “Omen,” a song that adds even more depth to what is already a seriously personal album.

Speaking on the record, Damon Tate described Omen as being three years in the making and shaped by everything the band had pushed through to get there. That really comes through across the album. This is not just a heavy record for the sake of it. There is something bigger sitting underneath it, with themes of growth, survival, and trying to become a better version of yourself.

The title track hits especially hard. Tate described it as an open letter to his younger self, reflecting on past mistakes, addiction, recovery, and the long process of learning to face all of it honestly. That kind of openness gives “Omen” its edge. It feels personal, but still broad enough to connect with anyone carrying their own weight.

What makes Omen stand out is how naturally Of Virtue balance melody and aggression. There is plenty here for metalcore fans, but the band also push beyond that with different textures and influences across the record. Songs like “Sober,” “A.N.X.I.E.T.Y.,” and “Floating” help make this feel like more than just another heavy release. It is an album with something real to say.

Of Virtue have also built a reputation for using their platform to speak openly about mental health, and that honesty continues to be a huge part of what makes the band connect. Omen feels like a record made with purpose, and one that shows exactly why the band kept building momentum.

For anyone who likes their metalcore with heart, weight, and a bit more depth, Omen absolutely delivers.
