It’s July, and you know what that means—time to throw on Rain In July and feel 17 again.

It’s mad to think how far Neck Deep have come since they dropped this thing. Back then, it was just some scrappy songs put together in a bedroom. No big budget. No fancy studio. Just a mic, a laptop, and a lot of feelings. And yet, somehow, it still hits harder than half the stuff on the radio today.

Neck Deep – Kick It

Every song on that EP feels like it was made for a summer spent being dramatic in a hoodie. “What Did You Expect?” is basically the blueprint for every DIY pop punk song that came after it. And “A Part of Me”? Forget it. That one’s still ruining people emotionally, over a decade later.

There’s something weirdly comforting about how rough it all sounds. It’s not perfect, and that’s exactly why it works. It feels honest. Like they weren’t trying to be the next big thing—they were just writing what they felt, throwing it online, and seeing what happened. And what happened was kind of huge.

Rain In July didn’t just kick off Neck Deep’s career, it gave a whole new wave of UK pop punk fans something to scream along to. It was raw, loud, and weirdly beautiful—and somehow, it still is.
