If you’ve seen a band that looks straight out of Star Wars and sounds like a full blown metal act, you’ve probably come across Galactic Empire. The Pure Noise Records outfit have built a reputation around one very specific idea. Taking the iconic scores from Star Wars and reworking them into guitar driven heavy tracks.

Formed not all that long ago, the band set out with a clear mission to create what they describe as an unstoppable musical force. Instead of original material, they’ve leaned into something way more recognisable, reinterpreting compositions from legendary composer John Williams and giving them a completely new edge.

The whole thing is backed by a full concept. Members appear as characters including Dark Vader, Boba Sett, Red Guard, Shadow Ranger, and Bass Commander, committing fully to the aesthetic while delivering tight, high energy performances. Tracks like The Imperial March and Duel of the Fates have become fan favourites, showing how well these scores translate into a heavier setting.

It’s a niche idea on paper, but it’s clearly landed. Galactic Empire have carved out their own space where fandom and heavy music collide, and with May the 4th rolling around again, it feels like the perfect time to revisit what they’re doing!
