Melbourne metal outfit Melting have returned with a brand new single, “Glare”, out now via Greyscale Records.

It’s a heavy one straight out the gate. “Glare” leans into a relentless, groove driven sound that feels built for packed rooms and chaotic live shows. Every part of the track is designed to hit hard, with the band clearly doubling down on the intensity they’ve been building over the past year.

Lyrically, the track goes a lot deeper. Written before the band had even fully formed, “Glare” explores the lasting psychological effects of abuse and the paranoia that can follow. Vocalist Xavier Morris explained: “I’ve witnessed it in the lives of those closest to me, and I’ve experienced it myself. An all consuming fear that can be instilled by the most heinous of acts, down to a simple glare.”

The release follows a strong run for the band after their debut EP You Exist Because We Allow It, which helped establish their sound early on. Since then, they’ve kept that momentum going with singles like “874” and “Into The Suffer”, while also building a reputation on the live circuit alongside names like King 810, Malevolence and Alpha Wolf.

Melting first emerged in 2024 and quickly caught attention, eventually signing to Greyscale Records in early 2025. Since then, things have been moving fast. As the band put it, the past year has been “absolutely nuts”, with plenty more still on the way.

“Glare”

With “Glare” now out, it feels like another step forward for the band as they continue to lock in their sound and push things even further.
