Holding Absence have officially announced their third studio album Modern Life Is Lonely, set for release on August 28th via Sumerian Records. Alongside the announcement, the South Wales trio have also shared a brand new single titled “Reflection”.
The new track arrives as the band’s first taste of the upcoming record and centres around themes of self destruction, identity and learning to move forward. It also marks the beginning of a new era for the band following their recent signing to Sumerian Records.
Speaking on the release, vocalist Lucas Woodland said the band are “ecstatic” to finally share the song and confirmed the upcoming album is “their boldest and most creative body of work to date”.

Modern Life Is Lonely will feature 11 tracks including “Reflection”, “Heaven”, “Take Me With You” and the title track itself. According to the band, the album explores grief, loneliness, trauma and emotional survival, while balancing some of their heaviest themes with moments of hope and reconnection.
Holding Absence are also set for a busy run of live dates later this year, including appearances at Louder Than Life Festival and Aftershock Festival before heading out across Europe and the UK with Enter Shikari throughout November. The run includes two huge shows at London’s Alexandra Palace.
