Harrison Gordon have officially signed to Hopeless Records and honestly, if they’re not already on your radar, now’s probably the time to fix that.

Alongside the signing announcement, the Illinois punk outfit have released their new single “Pretty,” their first release through the label. The track tackles screen addiction, social anxiety, and the weird comfort people find in hiding behind algorithms instead of actual human interaction. It’s another strong release from a band that’s quietly becoming one of the most exciting names coming out of the modern emo and DIY punk space.

Harrison Gordon first started gaining traction during the pandemic as a solo project before quickly evolving into a full band. Since then, they’ve built a loyal following through chaotic live shows, relatable songwriting, and a growing online presence. Their breakout track “Kirby Down B” pulled in over 1.8 million TikTok views, while their debut album The Yuppies Are Winning and recent Spring Break! EP helped cement them as a band worth paying attention to.

Speaking about the new single, the band said:

“‘Pretty’ is about how embarrassing it feels to engage with other humans in real life. I think a lot of us default back to retreating inside ourselves through the comfort of a screen because it feels so much safer than actually living your life.”

The timing of the Hopeless signing also feels massive for the band. Hopeless Records has long been home to some of alternative music’s biggest breakout artists, and Harrison Gordon already feel like a natural fit for the label’s newer generation of emo and punk acts.

They’re currently out on the road across the US with Arm’s Length, The Callous Daoboys, and Super Sometimes, with dates running through May!
