Santa Cruz hardcore titans DRAIN have done it again, and if you’ve been anywhere near a pit in the last few years, you’ll know exactly why everyone’s buzzing. Their new single, Scared Of Everything And Nothing, is the final taste of what’s to come on their third album …IS YOUR FRIEND, dropping November 7th via Epitaph Records. And let me tell you, this one’s got “instant pit classic” written all over it.

DRAIN – ‘Scared Of Everything And Nothing’

Clocking in at just over two minutes, the track is a pure adrenaline shot—heavy breakdowns, riffs sharp enough to slice concrete, and that signature DRAIN energy that makes their live shows the most fun chaos you’ll ever throw yourself into. The video, directed by Eric Richter, keeps things raw and true to form: the band tearing it up on a parking garage rooftop, channeling that sweaty, uncontainable live energy straight through the screen.

Frontman Sammy Ciaramitaro gets real about the track, describing it as almost a stream-of-consciousness moment: “Most of the words literally walked from my brain right out my mouth.” It’s a reflection on how he’s turned the big dreams of a decade ago into reality—marriage, a healthy lifestyle, a life built on his own terms—while still acknowledging that no matter how much you achieve, life’s always going to throw hurdles at you. Instead of shying away, Sammy embraces it: “Ya know what…I’m stoked to break them down too and keep on charging to the next one.” That attitude is exactly why DRAIN feel so authentic and so vital in hardcore right now.

With …IS YOUR FRIEND, DRAIN wanted to do two things: capture their live show on record and write new songs that would make the next shows even wilder. Mission accomplished. Producer Jon Markson (The Story So Far, Drug Church, One Step Closer) tracked the whole record live—no click tracks, no programming, just raw power. The result? Ten tracks built for chaos, connection, and circle pits the size of small countries.

Formed back in 2014, DRAIN have never slowed down. Their 2020 debut California Cursed made waves even during lockdown, while 2023’s LIVING PROOF hit like a tidal wave. Since then, they’ve played everywhere—from DIY stages to arenas with Blink-182—cementing themselves as one of hardcore’s most unifying bands. Whether they’re opening for Neck Deep or tearing it up with Terror, their only mission is to make crowds lose their minds, and they deliver every single time.

Scared Of Everything And Nothing is available now, with exclusive 7-inch vinyl and merch via Last Ride Records for collectors who want a piece of this moment. The full album …IS YOUR FRIEND lands November 7th, and trust me—you’ll want to be there when DRAIN bring these songs to the stage. Check their socials for upcoming dates and tickets, and get ready to dive headfirst into the mayhem.
