Death Lens are back, and “Drown” makes it clear they are not slowing down.

The new single is the latest taste of their upcoming album What’s Left Now?, out 24 April via Epitaph Records. It is nervy, urgent and honest. Built on sharp riffs and restless energy, “Drown” captures that feeling of watching life move forward while you feel stuck in place.

Death Lens – Drown

“The world keeps moving while I spin in circles of my own design,” the band explain. “‘Drown’ is my frustration of being trapped in my own loop… An ode to stagnation and a fear of being forgotten.”

It hits because it feels real. That tension between self doubt and survival has always been part of Death Lens’ DNA, but this time it feels sharper. Producer Zach Tuch, known for his work with Knocked Loose and Touché Amoré, helps push the band’s live intensity into something tighter and more dynamic without sanding off the edges.

What’s Left Now? follows 2024’s Cold World and comes after a demanding stretch on the road that tested the band personally and creatively. Two members departed, but the core of Bryan Torres, Jhon Reyes and Tony Rangel regrouped, adding guitarist Ernie Gutierrez to the fold. The result sounds focused and hungry.

Lyrically, the album moves between personal and political. There are songs about breakups and identity, but also tracks that confront real issues facing immigrant communities in the US. Torres has been clear that the band’s message is for those who feel unheard. That perspective gives the record weight without losing its punch.

Death Lens have always written for outsiders. “Drown” proves they are doing it louder, tighter and more confident than ever.

With a headline run alongside Drug Church and White Reaper this spring, the timing feels right. If this single is anything to go by, What’s Left Now? could be the record that pushes them into a new tier.
