Dance Gavin Dance are revisiting a fan favourite with a newly recorded version of ‘The Robot With Human Hair, Pt. 3’, taken from their upcoming release Tree City Sessions 3. The album lands digitally on May 22, 2026, with physical copies following on June 19.
The track originally appeared on the band’s 2008 self titled album, often referred to by fans as Deathstar. This new version continues the Tree City Sessions series, where the band reworks older material with their current lineup, giving a fresh take on different eras of their catalogue.
Vocalist Andrew Wells said the series has been a chance to highlight how each version of the band approaches the same songs. Speaking on the new release, he explained, “The entire Tree City Sessions series has given us the opportunity to showcase each lineup’s strengths on various songs throughout the entire catalog. Growing up I was a huge fan of the Deathstar album, so being able to emulate Kurt and bring my own passion to this version of Robot 3 was truly an honor.”
Tree City Sessions 3 will be released via Rise Records and is available to pre save now. Alongside the digital release, a limited tour variant will be available at shows from May 22 while stock lasts.
The band also hit the road this week for a North American headline run before heading over to the UK and Europe later this year. UK dates include stops in Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol and London.
