Calling All Captains are kicking off a new chapter—and it’s one that’s set to hit hard. The Canadian punk-rock favourites have announced their brand-new EP The Things That I’ve Lost, arriving January 9, 2026 via New Damage Records. To mark the news, the band have dropped its lead single A New Type of Grey, which is out now with a moving new video.

“A New Type of Grey” wrestles with the idea of black-and-white thinking, when insecurities take over and suddenly nothing feels good enough. Vocalist Luc Gauthier explains it best: “Succumbing to your insecurities and focusing on your weaknesses can lead to black and white thinking. As to say if something isn’t 100% good, then it’s 100% bad. However, that is not the reality.” It’s a raw and relatable message, backed by the band’s trademark mix of soaring hooks and gritty emotion.

The music video makes it even more personal. Drawing on Luc’s own background working as a cultural support worker for Indigenous youth, the story highlights themes of kinship, care, and identity in the foster system. “Massive thank you to all the actors and crew who worked 3 full days and nights to make this happen,” Luc shared, underscoring just how important this video is to him personally.

With longtime collaborator Quinn Cyrankiewicz behind the desk and mixing/mastering by Tim Creviston and Stuart McKillop, The Things That I’ve Lost finds Calling All Captains at their most vulnerable and ambitious yet. The EP even features a standout co-write with Tom Denney (A Day to Remember, Pierce the Veil, Neck Deep) on Blood for Blood—a move that signals just how far the band’s creative reach now extends.

“This is the most personal release we’ve ever put out,” Luc adds. “These songs came from a place of reflecting on everything we’ve been through, personally and as a band. It’s raw, but it’s real. And I think people will feel that.”

Calling All Captains have spent the last few years carving their name into the scene with national Canadian and U.S. tours, festival appearances, and a reputation for turning their struggles into cathartic, sing-it-until-your-throat-burns punk anthems. Now, with The Things That I’ve Lost, they’re showing the world what it looks like to break down—and then rise stronger than ever.

Fans won’t have to wait long to catch the band live either. Their On The Road Again Canadian tour kicks off September 26, with dates stretching into October, and more information available via the band’s socials.

The Things That I’ve Lost may be rooted in loss, but for Calling All Captains, it’s already sounding like the start of something bigger.
