With the upcoming release of his most personal project to date, YUNGBLUD is swapping stage lights for the silver screen. YUNGBLUD: Are You Ready, Boy? is a full-length documentary hitting cinemas worldwide on August 20 and 24, and it promises to be anything but polished.
Filmed at Berlin’s iconic Hansa Studios—the same space where Bowie recorded Heroes—the documentary offers a raw, behind-the-scenes look at the making of YUNGBLUD’s new album Idols. Directed by the legendary Paul Dugdale (the name behind films for The Rolling Stones and Coldplay), the film goes beyond the music. It’s not just studio takes and vocal warm-ups—it’s vulnerable, gritty, and unapologetically honest.
YUNGBLUD himself describes it as “a journey. It’s raw. It’s uncomfortable. But that’s the point.”
The film features 12 live performances from the Idols album, shot in a way that feels more like a fever dream than a concert doc. Think chaos, catharsis, and the occasional existential crisis—classic YUNGBLUD energy. If you’ve ever wanted to know what it looks like when an artist tears everything down to build something real, this is it.
Whether you’ve followed YUNGBLUD from the basement shows or jumped on during the arena tours, this film looks like it’s shaping up to be an emotional gut punch—and a celebration of everything that makes his music resonate so deeply.
Tickets go on sale July 17. Bring tissues and maybe a leather jacket.
