Los Angeles alt-pop duo Sense are back — and this time, they’re onto something for real. The Hopeless Records pair have dropped their third EP, fittingly titled Onto Something, and it’s a glimmering, heart-on-sleeve collection that perfectly balances big pop hooks with a nostalgic pop-punk bite. If you’ve been sleeping on them, now’s the time to tune in.

The six-track project opens with “Obsessed,” a total ear worm that immediately grabs you with its slick melodies and upbeat production. It’s bright, confident, and sets the tone for what might be their most polished and infectious work yet. Then there’s “Skin” — the kind of track that’ll have you tapping your foot within seconds. It’s got a punchy bassline and a rhythm that practically demands movement.

Senses – ‘onto something’

Title track “Onto Something” feels like the emotional centre of the record — raw vocals and that hazy excitement that comes with not quite knowing where a connection is going. It’s as catchy as it is heartfelt, and you can see why it’s become such a fan favourite.

But if there’s one song that deserves to be screamed in a sweaty club at 1AM, it’s “Clean Cut.” Easily one of the standouts here, it leans into its pop-punk roots with loud, nostalgic instrumentals that wouldn’t feel out of place alongside early Paramore or The Summer Set — fitting, since SENSES are hitting the road with them this November.

“You and I” slows things down but still hits hard. The verses simmer quietly before bursting into a chorus that’s powerful and emotional in all the right ways. And then there’s “Tiptoeing,” the EP’s closer and arguably its most radio-ready moment — glossy, energetic, and overflowing with hooks. It’s the kind of song you hear once and immediately hum for the rest of the day.

As a whole, Onto Something feels like a major step up for Senses — a band that’s clearly found its rhythm and isn’t afraid to show it. Every track earns its place, every hook lands, and there’s not a single skip-worthy moment in sight. If we had to nitpick, we’d say this one should’ve dropped in summer — it’s got that golden-hour energy written all over it.

Still, season aside, Senses have crafted an EP that proves they’re one of Hopeless Records’ most exciting acts. Infectious, emotional, and unapologetically honest — they’re not just onto something… they’re on fire!
