Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” just got a happy ending—because the band is officially being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Yep, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool will take their rightful place among the legends on May 1 at 11:30 a.m. PT. The star will be placed outside Amoeba Music (which feels extremely on-brand), making them the 2,810th addition to the iconic sidewalk.
For a band that started in the sweaty clubs of Berkeley back in 1986, it’s a pretty full-circle moment. From DIY punk beginnings to Grammy wins, arena tours, a Broadway musical, and now this—Green Day continues to prove that selling millions of records and staying true to your roots can go hand in hand.
Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame, said it best: “Green Day’s music has not only inspired generations but also served as the soundtrack to our lives.”
Whether it was Dookie blasting from your older sibling’s room, American Idiot fueling your teenage angst, or “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” making you feel deep in middle school—Green Day’s star is one we’ve all been waiting for.
And now, it’s finally shining on Hollywood Boulevard.
