Chris Comstock—better known to most as Marshmello—just flipped the script in a big way. Stepping out from behind the decks and into the heart of a pop-punk band, he’s launched a brand-new project called Underbrook, and their debut single ‘Heads Up’ is already turning heads.
For years, Marshmello has been a household name in electronic music, working with massive names like Halsey, Yungblud, and A Day To Remember. But Underbrook isn’t just a side quest—it’s a full-circle moment. “This isn’t a nostalgia play — this is who I’ve always been at my core,” Chris shared. “Underbrook is about channeling the emotions and chaos that shaped me, and giving them a voice through the music that first made me feel understood.”
Taking the mic as lead vocalist, Chris is joined by a seriously stacked lineup: Hayden Tree of Crown The Empire on bass, Josh Strock (known for his work with Fever 333 and Machine Gun Kelly) and Danny Couture (Bring Me The Horizon, Marshmello) on guitar, alongside Jake Torrey (Linkin Park, Twenty One Pilots) and drummer James Brownstein. Basically, it’s a supergroup with its heart in the pit.
And what does Underbrook sound like? According to Chris, it’s “New Found Glory, The Story So Far, Two Door Cinema Club, The Strokes” all tangled together into something fresh but deeply familiar. It’s the kind of fusion that feels like ripping open your teenage diary and finding a banger written inside.
‘Heads Up’ is just the beginning—and if this is where they’re starting, we can’t wait to hear where Underbrook goes next.
