Reckless Press didn’t start in a boardroom or behind a desk. It started in a small hometown with a bunch of teenagers who were tired of waiting for gigs that never came.
Nobody was booking the bands we wanted to see, so we stopped moaning and put the shows on ourselves. Our first one was Neck Deep, before anyone knew who they were. We had no real idea what we were doing, but it worked, and that was it. We were hooked.
Bi-weekly shows became our whole world. Packed little rooms, a community that turned up because they cared, a scene we were building from nothing. That was the good stuff.
We’ve gone by a few names over the years. THIS GIG, then Reckless Promotions, all of it spent dragging a local scene up off the ground.
Then COVID stopped live music dead. No gigs, no shows, nothing. We could’ve called it a day, but instead we built the Reckless Press website and found another way to keep the music going.
These days we shout about the bands that don’t fit in a box and never wanted to. The flat-out energy of pop punk, the sheer weight of hardcore, metal that won’t sit still. The loud, the heavy, the stuff that actually means something.
We haven’t changed. Still the same music obsessives who started all this years ago, still just trying to put you onto your next favourite band before everyone else catches on. Keep the underground alive. That’s the whole point.
If you’re a band we’ve featured, wear it like a badge of honour. You’ve earned it. And if you’re reading this, pull up a chair. This is home.
Same mission as day one: keep alternative music loud, alive and proud.
Because this was never just about the music. It’s a movement.
And we’re only getting started.
