Citizen have released “Halcyon Blues”, the title track from their upcoming album of the same name, which arrives August 7th via Run For Cover Records.
The new single offers another look at what fans can expect from the Toledo rock band’s latest chapter and follows the previously released “Highs and Lows”, which earned praise from outlets including Stereogum, Consequence, BrooklynVegan and The Guardian.

While “Highs and Lows” showcased Citizen’s alternative rock side, “Halcyon Blues” takes a more reflective approach. The track centres around the breakdown of a relationship and the difficult process of watching two people drift apart.
Speaking about the song, vocalist Mat Kerekes explained: “It’s about a silent disconnect between two people. You both know you’re no longer meant to be in each other’s lives but instead of accepting it, you sit in the space between and watch one another become strangers in real time.”
The track arrives alongside a new music video and serves as the latest preview of Halcyon Blues, Citizen’s first full length album since 2023’s Calling The Dogs. According to the band, the record draws on nearly two decades of musical and personal growth, showcasing a group continuing to evolve while staying true to the sound that made them one of modern rock’s most respected names.

To support the release, Citizen will embark on an extensive world tour. North American dates will feature support from Anxious, Hotline TNT, Rocket and Cryogeyser, while Modern Color and thistle. will join the band across the UK and Europe. An Australian run with Drug Church is also scheduled later this year.
