156/Silence are back and already making a serious statement for 2026. The Pittsburgh outfit have announced their sixth studio album From A Distance, arriving September 4 via Pure Noise Records, alongside the release of crushing new single “No Arms” and its official music video.

Following the breakout momentum of 2024’s People Watching, the band are doubling down on the darker, more atmospheric direction that’s helped separate them from the current metalcore pack. While earlier records leaned heavily into chaotic mathcore and technical aggression, From A Distance looks set to push even further into massive hooks, cinematic textures and emotionally heavy songwriting without losing the intensity that made the band stand out in the first place.

The first taste of the album comes through “No Arms”, a track the band say is centred around helplessness, fear and losing control before eventually finding a way through it. It’s an introduction that immediately sets the tone for a record tackling intrusive thoughts, celebrity worship, grief, personal connection and emotional collapse from a much wider perspective than previous releases.

The album also brings in some huge features across the heavy scene, including Mike Hranica of The Devil Wears Prada, Alex Reade from Make Them Suffer and Tony Castrati of Crippling Alcoholism. Produced by Josh Schroeder, whose credits include Lorna Shore and King 810, the record also pulls inspiration from unsettling worlds like Twin Peaks, Silent Hill and Resident Evil.

There’s also a huge emotional weight behind the album. It follows the band’s 2025 standalone tribute track “Our Parting Ways,” released in memory of longtime bassist Lukas Booker following his unexpected passing. That sense of grief and reflection appears to run throughout the new record while still pushing the band creatively into new territory.

To support the release, 156/Silence will spend the summer touring the US before joining The Devil Wears Prada across the UK and Europe this October, including shows in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Bristol.

If People Watching felt like the band’s breakout moment, From A Distance sounds like the release that could take them to another level entirely.
