Citizen are back with a brand new album. The Toledo band have announced Halcyon Blues, set for release on August 7 via Run For Cover Records, alongside the release of its lead single “Highs and Lows”.

Seventeen years into their career, Citizen continue to evolve on their own terms. From their early emo and post hardcore roots to a broader alternative sound, the band have built a steady following by doing things their own way. Halcyon Blues looks set to pull from across that journey, bringing together elements from different eras of the band into one record.

Speaking on their long term approach, guitarist Nick Hamm said: “We don’t think in moments, or months, or record cycles. I see Citizen as this long term creative project where there’s always somewhere new to go, and that’s kept me exhilarated through all these years. And we’ve trusted that people who like our band will want to come along.”

Alongside the album news, Citizen have also confirmed a full run of international tour dates. A North American leg kicks off in September with support from Anxious, Hotline TNT, Rocket and Cryogeyser, followed by UK and EU shows with Modern Color and thistle., before heading to Australia with Drug Church. The UK run includes stops in London, Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester and Bristol this October.

Halcyon Blues lands August 7, with “Highs and Lows” out now.
