Love Rarely are officially stepping into their album era, and it feels like a big moment.

The Leeds five piece have announced their debut full length Pain Travels, landing April 10 via Big Scary Monsters, alongside a brand new single and video for Will. If you’ve been following their rise over the past year, this feels less like a surprise and more like the natural next chapter.

Love Rarely – ‘Will’

Formed in 2023, Love Rarely have quickly carved out their own lane in the UK alternative scene, blending math rock, emo and hardcore into something that feels raw, emotional, and properly human. Their music doesn’t hide behind metaphors. It meets you straight on, digging into family trauma, growing up in difficult homes, and learning how to carry that weight without letting it define you.

Pain Travels was shaped across spare rooms and makeshift recording setups, written and recorded separately before being stitched together by guitarist Lew Taylor, who self produced the entire record. It’s a proper DIY effort, built slowly and honestly, and you can feel that in every track.

Guitarist Dan Dewsnap describes the album as a journey through coping when life doesn’t deal you the best hand. It ended up darker than expected, but there’s real hope running through it too. The message is simple and powerful: things have been tough, but it’s going to be okay.

Tracks like Through Families, Haunted and Severed tackle generational pain, self reflection, and inherited trauma head on, while Dormant explores vocalist Courtney Levitt’s experience with a family member’s dementia. These aren’t abstract ideas. They’re lived moments, turned into songs that feel heavy but strangely comforting at the same time.

If you’ve caught Love Rarely live already, you’ll know how intense their shows can be. They’re currently on the road with The Callous Daoboys (a run that’s already sold out even after venue upgrades), and they’re also locked in for 2000trees and Truck Festival this summer.

Tour Graphic

From their Lonely People EP to breakout tracks like Disappear, Love Rarely have been quietly building something special. Now, with Pain Travels on the way, it feels like they’re ready to take that next leap.

Pain Travels

This isn’t just a debut album announcement. It’s a band turning everything they’ve been through into something meaningful, and inviting you along for the ride.
