Joyce Manor are officially in album mode, and it already feels like something special.

The Torrance trio have just shared the title track from their upcoming record I Used To Go To This Bar, which lands this Friday via Epitaph. If you’ve ever found yourself getting weirdly emotional over a place you used to hang out when you were broke and figuring life out, this one’s probably going to hit.

Joyce Manor – “I Used To Go To This Bar”

Barry Johnson describes the song as a nostalgic look back at a totally ordinary bar, capturing that strange mix of simplicity and heartbreak from a time when nothing was really happening. It’s a small story, but that’s always been Joyce Manor’s superpower. They take everyday moments and turn them into punchy, honest songs that stick with you.

And judging by the early reactions, this album is already turning heads. Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Billboard and more have all praised the band’s latest run of singles, with I Used To Go To This Bar even landing on multiple “Most Anticipated Albums of 2026” lists.

The record was produced by Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion and Epitaph, which feels like a full-circle moment for a band raised on that exact sound. Barry’s spoken about how working with Brett helped them lean fully into their influences while still sounding like Joyce Manor. Short songs, big hooks, and that familiar emotional punch, just dialled up.

Musically, it’s Joyce Manor doing what they do best, but bigger. Think fast pop punk energy, power pop melodies, and that unmistakable Southern California feel, all wrapped into nine tight tracks that don’t waste a second. From fan favourites in the making like “All My Friends Are So Depressed” to the title track’s bittersweet reflection, this feels like a band completely locked in.

Work on the album started back in 2023, and you can tell it’s been carefully built rather than rushed. With help from heavy hitters like Tony Hoffer and Tom Lord Alge, plus a rotating lineup of drummers, the result sounds fuller and more confident without losing the raw edge that made people fall in love with Joyce Manor in the first place.

Nearly two decades into their run, Joyce Manor aren’t slowing down. If anything, I Used To Go To This Bar feels like a reminder of why they matter so much to modern punk, and why they’re still one of the most exciting bands in the scene.

Honestly, this one’s shaping up to be a special record.
