Big D and the Kids Table are officially back!

After five years without new music, the ska punk veterans have announced their 12th album The Good Ole American Saturday Night, landing June 12 via SideOneDummy Records. And to kick things off, they’ve dropped the first single “Whiplash” alongside a brand new video.

If you know Big D, you already know what you’re getting here. “Whiplash” takes a full blown chaotic situation and flips it into something loud, fast, and ridiculously catchy. Speaking on the track, vocalist David McWane said, “What would you do if you walked into a room and saw your roommate in bed with your girlfriend? Well, if you want to know the rest of the story, cue up Whiplash!”

This new album sees the band link back up with ska heavyweights Joe Gittleman and Matt Appleton, who handled production. It’s a full circle moment too, especially with Gittleman previously working on Strictly Rude, one of the band’s most loved releases.

Rather than slowing down, The Good Ole American Saturday Night sounds like a band doubling down on everything that’s kept them going for over three decades. Big hooks, sharp horns, and that signature mix of chaos and optimism. At its core, it’s built around a simple idea: have fun, build something real, and don’t overthink it.

Formed back in 1995 at Berklee College of Music, Big D And The Kids Table have never really followed trends. They’ve just done their thing, whether that’s blending ska into punk and hardcore scenes or grinding it out on tour across the world. That freedom still defines them now.

Over 30 years in, nothing’s changed where it matters. This still feels like a band making music for packed rooms, sweaty shows, and people just wanting to lose themselves for a bit.

And if “Whiplash” is anything to go by, they’re not easing into this next era, they’re kicking the door in.
