Adelaide alternative rock band alt. have released their new single “Sucker Punch,” out now via Resist Records in Australia and SharpTone Records worldwide.

Sucker Punch

The track arrives as a heavy, confrontational statement from the band, opening with a tense build before breaking into driving guitars and a huge chorus that feels designed for a live crowd. It’s a dark and urgent release that leans into the band’s blend of alternative rock, punk and electronic influences.

Speaking about the track, the band describe “Sucker Punch” as a moment of resistance. A point where frustration boils over and the only option left is to stand up and fight back.

“This song is our final stand. A fight back against an oppressive force that has lied, cheated and taken everything we hold dear. Sucker Punch captures that breaking point, when you’ve had enough of the lies and the control. It’s about fighting back, standing together, and being ready for the battle ahead. This time, we’re prepared.”

The single was produced, mixed and mastered by Callan Orr, known for his work with Dream On Dreamer and Hands Like Houses, and arrives alongside a cinematic music video directed by the band’s own guitarist and videographer Daniel Wells-Smith with Bryce Kraehenbuehl.

Since forming in 2019, alt. have steadily built a following with their mix of punk energy, melodic hooks and darker electronic textures. Their early single “insubordinate” premiered through Dreambound, while their 2020 EP dysfunctional quickly passed two million streams and helped push the band onto national tours.

That momentum continued after signing with Resist Records and SharpTone Records, leading to the release of their debut album Abeyance in 2023. Along the way they’ve shared stages with acts like Don Broco, Enter Shikari and Saosin while developing a reputation for a sound that refuses to sit in one lane.

“Sucker Punch” continues that direction. It’s sharp, intense and confident, showing a band that knows exactly where it’s heading next.
