Arankai is stepping into his next chapter and he’s doing it loud. The rising alternative metal artist has returned with new single “Choke”, a track that feels like a clear statement of intent for what’s coming next.
If you’ve been following his rise over the last couple of years, this moment makes sense. After building serious momentum online and signing to Hopeless Records in 2025, Arankai has been steadily shaping his sound and audience at the same time. His debut album A Portrait of Red introduced fans to that mix of emotional storytelling and heavy textures, with tracks like “Contortionist”, “Conquer” featuring Josh Mowery, and fan favourite “Dead Throne” helping push his name further into the alt metal conversation.
“Choke” picks up right where that momentum left off, but it also feels sharper and more focused. The song leans into themes Arankai has explored before, relationships, frustration and the search for connection, while expanding the sonic palette. The guitars feel urgent, the rhythms are thick and saturated, and there’s a rawness that makes it clear this isn’t just another single. It sounds like the start of a bigger vision.
Arankai himself describes the track as setting the tone for the next record, pulling inspiration from bands that shaped his early relationship with rock music including Deftones, Korn, Sevendust, 10 Years and Switchfoot. That influence shows up in the balance between garage level intensity and polished production, giving the track a modern edge without losing that emotional punch.

Alongside the new release, he’s also announced his first ever headline North American tour this spring. It’s another sign that things are moving quickly. From independent releases in 2022 to a multi album series rollout and a headline run just a few years later, the trajectory is clear.

“Choke” doesn’t just introduce a song. It introduces the next phase of Arankai. If this is the tone for what’s ahead, there’s a lot more noise coming.
