AFI are back with their twelfth album Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…, and honestly? This one feels like something else entirely. Dropping October 3rd via Run For Cover Records, the record marks a bold, dreamy new chapter for a band that’s spent three decades shapeshifting—and still somehow finding new ground to break.
Lead single Behind the Clock is already out, and the music video (directed by Gilbert Trejo) is haunting in all the right ways. Trejo described the vibe as “like you’re seeing something you shouldn’t”—and that’s pretty much spot on. It’s eerie, intimate, and soaked in that signature AFI atmosphere. Frontman Davey Havok called working with Trejo “a privilege,” and you can tell the chemistry translated.
AFI’s never been one to repeat themselves, and this time around they’re diving into a sound that’s both ethereal and cinematic—dark but dreamy, sharp yet strangely beautiful. They’ve pulled from influences that have always been bubbling under the surface, only now they’re fully embracing them. The result? A record that feels timeless and completely new all at once.
Whether you came in during the Sing the Sorrow or Decemberunderground days, or go way back to Answer That and Stay Fashionable, there’s something for you here. And if you’re just discovering them? There’s never been a better time to dive in.

AFI are also hitting the road this fall with special guest TR/ST for a 24-date headline North American tour. It kicks off September 30th in Madison and wraps up in San Diego on November 5th. Expect a full-throttle set spanning their entire catalogue—and yes, that includes Silver Bleeds the Black Sun… live for the first time.
So, new album, new tour, new era—and it’s shaping up to be one of AFI’s most captivating yet.
