Guess who’s back and not here to mess around? Motion City Soundtrack have officially returned with a brand-new single, and in classic MCS fashion, they’re making sure you know exactly who the fuck they are. Their new track—yep, it’s actually called You Know Who The Fuck We Are—is everything you’d hope for from the pop-punk legends, and it’s a loud, confident reminder that they’re far from done.

Motion City Soundtrack –
‘You Know Who The Fuck We Are’

This one’s pulled straight from their upcoming album The Same Old Wasted Wonderful World, landing September 19 via Epitaph Records. If you’ve missed the band’s infectious energy, quirky charm, and cleverly chaotic lyricism, then you’re in luck—because this new era might be their most exciting yet. After a long hiatus and some “are-they-actually-coming-back?” moments since 2015’s Panic Stations, MCS are finally ready to unleash a full record. And judging by this lead single, it’s gonna be a wild ride.

Recorded with longtime collaborator Sean O’Keefe (who’s worked with everyone from Fall Out Boy to Plain White T’s), the new album sees Motion City digging into the messy, beautiful chaos of life post-hiatus. There are some heavyweight features, too—Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy helps out on a track called Particle Physics, Mat Kerekes of Citizen pops up, and Deanna Belos from Sincere Engineer brings some bite. But what really hits is how fresh it all feels. This isn’t a nostalgia trip—it’s a reintroduction.

In true MCS fashion, there’s a ton of heart packed into these songs. Frontman Justin Pierre describes the record as a kind of emotional full circle—processing the past, finding identity, and learning to sit with the chaos instead of running from it. It’s self-aware, a little neurotic, and loaded with everything that made us fall in love with them in the first place.

So yeah, Motion City Soundtrack aren’t just reliving their glory days—they’re rewriting the rules on what a comeback sounds like. And if You Know Who The Fuck We Are is anything to go by, they’re doing it with their loudest, catchiest middle finger in the air.
