Bearings are back — and they’re feeling everything. The Ottawa pop-punk crew have announced their brand-new album Comfort Company, set to drop November 7 via Pure Noise Records, and it already sounds like a proper return to form. The first taste, “Freaking Me Out,” is out now, and it’s one of those songs that hits that sweet spot between catchy and chaotic.

Bearings – “Freaking Me Out”

Frontman Doug Cousins describes it perfectly: “It finds itself somewhere between a pool party and a manic episode where you question the meaning of life.” Basically, it’s Bearings doing what they do best — making existential crises sound like anthems you can scream with your mates.

This is the band’s fourth full-length, and it sees them turning inward while still keeping that warm, nostalgic energy that’s followed them since Blue in the Dark. They went back to Room 21 in Toronto — the same studio where it all started — with producer Kyle Marchant, and the result is an album that feels like coming home. You can almost picture them walking to the beer store between takes, reading Vonnegut on air mattresses, and rediscovering why they fell in love with writing songs in the first place.

The tracklist reads like a love letter to every Bearings era — from the adrenaline rush of “Quick Release” to the more reflective “Feel Less” and “Let Me Hate Myself,” which features all three vocalists intertwining on what sounds like a show-stopping closer. Oh, and State Champs’ Derek DiScanio pops up on “Float Away,” adding even more fuel to the Pure Noise crossover dreams.

Doug says Comfort Company was about getting back to what felt natural: “We wanted to make music we knew we’d connect with and be able to spill out on stage when the time came.” And that time is coming fast — Bearings will hit the road this November supporting As It Is across the U.S. before heading out on their own headline run later in the month.

Tour Poster

Between the nostalgia, the honesty, and that undeniable pop-punk punch, Comfort Company feels like the record Bearings were always meant to make — one that’s messy, meaningful, and full of heart.
