If you’ve been waiting for a new Bearings record to soundtrack your late-night drives and long walks home, the wait is nearly over. The Ottawa pop-rock crew have just announced their fourth album, Comfort Company, dropping November 7th via Pure Noise Records. And to give us a taste, they’ve teamed up with State Champs’ very own Derek DiScanio on the brand-new single Float Away.

Bearings – Float Away (FT. Derek DiScanio)

It’s a track that started with a drumbeat and grew into something far bigger, with frontman Doug Cousins explaining that lyrically it’s all about those moments when life feels a little too heavy—when you need someone to bring you back down to earth. Add Derek’s signature touch and you’ve got a song that feels instantly like a Bearings classic but with a fresh twist.

Doug also let slip that this album feels like a proper homecoming. Some songs were written in cottages, others in basements, but they all ended up back in the same Toronto studio where the band made their first EP. Picture it: long days writing, beer store runs, reading Vonnegut, and crashing on an air mattress. That energy of reconnecting with where it all began runs right through Comfort Company.

The record is stacked with everything you’d want from Bearings—huge hooks, honest lyrics, and moments that will go off live. From the upbeat drive of the title track to the chaos of intrusive thoughts on Freaking Me Out, and the emotional weight of closer Let Me Hate Myself, it feels like the band at their most natural and honest yet.

And you won’t have to wait long to see it live. Bearings are hitting the road this winter supporting As It Is across the U.S., before heading out on their own headline dates later in the year. Tickets are already flying, so if you’re planning on catching them, you know where to look.

Comfort Company is out November 7th via Pure Noise Records, with pre-orders live now. Until then, you’ve got Float Away on repeat to keep you busy.
