It’s been a minute since we last had new music from Free Throw, but the wait is officially over. The Philly emo heavyweights are back with a brand-new track, “Mike Nolan’s Long Weekend,” and trust us — this one’s got some real weight behind it.

The song features Dom Fox from Bad Luck and dives into a theme Free Throw have always handled so well: that push-and-pull between how people perceive you and what’s actually going on underneath. Frontman Cory Castro puts it perfectly — sometimes the songs that get brushed off as “party anthems” are actually wrestling with much darker feelings. “Mike Nolan’s Long Weekend” is a reminder that what sounds like a singalong on the surface can hide a gut-punch of honesty just beneath it.

For longtime fans, this marks the band’s first fresh material in over two years. In the meantime, Free Throw kept themselves busy celebrating the 10th anniversary of Those Days Are Gone, dropping a stacked deluxe edition with reworked tracks featuring some of their friends across the scene — from Hot Mulligan’s Tades Sanville to Christine Goodwyne of Pool Kids, plus live versions to round it all out. The anniversary tour that followed saw them playing the record front to back to sold-out crowds, proving just how much love still surrounds that era of their band.

But if that was all about looking back, “Mike Nolan’s Long Weekend” is very much about moving forward. It’s raw, thoughtful, and everything we love about Free Throw, distilled into one song that feels both familiar and brand new.

And the good news doesn’t stop there. The band aren’t just dropping singles — they’re heading back out on the road. You’ll catch them stateside alongside Chase Petra and TRSH, plus an appearance at Riot Fest, before they make their way across the pond this autumn for UK and European dates with Prince Daddy & The Hyena as part of the Common Thread Tour. If you’ve ever seen Free Throw live, you’ll know these shows are going to go off. Tickets are available now — and you probably don’t want to wait around.

“Mike Nolan’s Long Weekend” is out now. Turn it up, sink in, and maybe take a closer listen to what’s hiding beneath the surface.
