We Should Drive is officially out, and it’s exactly the kind of sad, cinematic chaos we hoped for from Pip Marsh.

Pip Marsh – We Should Drive

Blending the edge of early 2000s emo with the storytelling heart of country, Pip’s latest release throws open the door to the emo country space—aka Y’allternative—with something that feels both brand new and beautifully nostalgic.

Written after a night at Ernie’s Bar in Nashville, the track captures a fleeting thought that hits a little too hard: what if your soulmate was just a few stools away, and you never even knew it? That quiet ache spiralled into a full-blown escape fantasy, and the result is We Should Drive—a song about two strangers, both carrying heavy stuff, who decide to just leave it all behind.

It’s dreamy and devastating in equal parts, and it properly cements Pip as one of the most exciting names in the UK alt-country scene right now. You might’ve seen him at Country to Country London, Buckle & Boots, or supporting Lakeview on their UK tour (yes, he really did cook crumpets on an iron for them). But this? This feels like a defining moment.

We Should Drive isn’t just a song—it’s a head-clearing, heart-spilling, windows-down kind of moment. So yeah, queue it up, and maybe don’t be surprised if you suddenly feel like running away from it all too.
