Taking Back Sunday’s third album Louder Now is officially 20 years old, originally released on April 25, 2006 and marking a major moment in the band’s rise.

Coming off the back of Where You Want to Be, this was the record that pushed them fully into the mainstream. It was their major label debut and saw the band link up with producer Eric Valentine, known for working with Queens of the Stone Age and Good Charlotte. The shift paid off, with the album debuting at number two on the Billboard 200 and quickly becoming one of the defining releases of mid 2000s emo.

The album also delivered some of the band’s biggest tracks. “MakeDamnSure” became their breakout hit, picking up heavy radio play and still standing as one of the most recognisable songs from that era. It helped cement Taking Back Sunday as more than just a scene band and brought them to a much wider audience.

Two decades on, Louder Now still holds its place as a key release in their catalogue, bridging the gap between their early sound and a bigger, more polished direction that would shape what came next.
