London-based punks Burnt Tapes are back with exciting news—their highly anticipated sophomore album, New Lungs, will be released on August 8th, 2025, via Wiretap Records, Lockjaw Records, and Nasty Cut Records.
Originally formed in Athens, Greece, and now based in London, Burnt Tapes have made their mark on the punk scene with their unique brand of “regret punk.” Known for combining anthemic hooks, empowering guitar lines, and raw, emotional vocals, the band has captivated fans worldwide. Over the years, Burnt Tapes have toured extensively, sharing the stage with acts like Spanish Love Songs, The Menzingers, and Red City Radio, while playing major festivals including Manchester Punk Festival and Rebellion Fest. Their debut LP Never Better (2019) earned critical acclaim, and their sound continues to evolve as they prepare for the release of New Lungs.
To kick off the album cycle, Burnt Tapes have released their first single, “MOTHERSGUILT,” now streaming everywhere. The track addresses themes of mental exhaustion, self-doubt, and societal pressure, capturing the inner struggle and emotional weight we often carry.
“It’s been a long time since our first record, we’ve had a pandemic in between, and that kinda does things to a person,” says Phil G. of Burnt Tapes. “We wanted to push harder on all the good things about Never Better, but also bring something new to the table, and we’re excited to share this first single with everyone.”
